Prof. Haller currently chairs the European Science Foundation ’s ( ESF ) Forward Look initiative on “ Gene environment interaction in chronic disease ( GENESIS ) ” . He is Director of the Department of Nutrition and Food Science .
Professor Haller now coordinates the national priority program of the German Research Foundation (DFG) on “intestinal microbiota” and heads a DFG graduate program in the Department of Nutritional Sciences at the Weihenstephan campus.

GIDeCA ( Gene by Environment Interactions on Decision Making in Children with different ADHD Symptoms ) assesses biological and psychosocial family – related influences on the ability to delay rewards and on risky decision-making behavior in children with different ADHD symptoms .
When children are faced with the option of either receiving a small gift at once, or waiting for a bigger gift they will receive later on, some children with an impulsive disposition opt for the smaller gift they will be given immediately.

Das Projekt GIDeCA ( Gene by Environment Interactions on Decision Making in Children with different ADHD Symptoms ) untersucht biologische und psychosozial-familiäre Einflüsse auf die Fähigkeit zum Belohnungsaufschub und auf riskantes Entscheidungsverhalten bei Kindern mit unterschiedlichen ADHS-Symptomatiken.
Werden Kinder vor die Wahl gestellt, entweder eine kleine Belohnung sofort zu bekommen oder aber auf eine größere Belohnung zu warten, so entscheiden sich manche, impulsivere Kinder für die kleinere, sofort verfügbare Belohnung.
