Um dieser Entwicklung entgegenzusteuern und den Lebensstandard der Bevölkerung auf dem Land zu verbessern, hat der emeritierte ETH-Architekturprofessor Franz Oswald mit NESTown Group das Stadtentwicklungsprojekt « NEST » ( New Energy Self-Sufficient Town ) ins Leben gerufen.
Es soll beispielhaft zeigen, wie umwelt- und sozialverträgliche Siedlungen mit hohem Selbstversorgungsgrad ausserhalb von Addis Abeba aussehen könnten.
