Durch geschlechtliche Vermehrung von P. chrysogenum erzeugten die Forscher Pilzstämme mit neuen biotechnologisch relevanten Eigenschaften – etwa hohe Penicillin-Produktion ohne das verunreinigende Chrysogenin.
