Im Jahr 2006 entschied sich George Lucas ein Star Wars Spektakel für die jährliche Parade of Roses in Kalifornien für den Neujahrstag 2007 zu produzieren.
Geplant war es kostümierte Fans aus der ganzen Welt als Stormtroopers, Rebellen und Imperiumsoffiziere in der Parade mitmarschieren zu lassen.
George Lucas wollte damit nicht nur etwas Spektakuläres bieten sondern auch den Fans in der ganzen Welt für ihre Wohltätigkeitsarbeit danken.

Lucas specified that he wanted these troopers in the parade both to make it spectacular, and to thank the fans for the great work they do for charity and community.
