Benannt nach dem Oberammergauer Hausberg, dem Kofel, wurde aus Matthias Meichelböck, Maxi Pongratz und den Brüdern Martin und Michael von Mücke das heutige "Kofelgschroa", als sie ihre von lokalen Traditionen hergeleitete Musik um bis zu dreistimmiges Geschrei und künstliche Widersprüche erweiterten.

Named for Oberammergau’s local mountain, the Kofel, “Kofelgschroa” was born when Matthias Meichelböck, Maxi Pongratz and the brothers Martin and Michael von Mücke decided to expand on the music of their local traditions, adding three-part screaming and artificial contradictions.
