Der Taschachferner befindet sich am Südende des Pitztals in den Ötztaler Alpen .
Bis gegen Ende des 20. Jahrhunderts bestand er aus zwei unterschiedlich grossen Teilen im Nordwesten und Nordosten der Petersenspitze (3482m).
