Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices
With regard to consumer prices, the Bundesbank economists are expecting the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) in Germany to increase by 1.1% this year, and by 1.5% in 2015.
For 2016, they anticipate that the HICP will rise to 1.9%.

Bei der Entwicklung der Verbraucherpreise rechnen die Bundesbank-Volkswirte für dieses Jahr mit einem Anstieg des Harmonisierten Verbraucherpreisindex (HVPI) um 1,1 %, für 2015 wir eine Zunahme um 1,5 % erwartet.
Für 2016 gehen sie von einem Anstieg der deutschen Verbraucherpreise um 1,9 % aus.

To implement this objective, the Governing Council of the ECB has defined price stability as a year-on-year increase in the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) of below, but close to, 2%.
The maintenance of price stability over the medium term is the first element of the ECB’s monetary policy strategy.

The harmonization measures introduced for the HICP in the different countries have been based on several EC regulations and guidelines agreed with the Member States.
They concern – inter alia – the coverage of consumer spending, initial standards for the procedures of quality adjustment, the treatment of new goods and services and the revision of weights.

Die in den verschiedenen Ländern für den HVPI eingeführten Harmonisierungsmaßnahmen beruhen auf mehreren Verordnungen und Richtlinien der EG, die mit den Mitgliedstaaten vereinbart wurden.
Dabei handelt es sich u. a. um den Erfassungsbereich der Konsumausgaben, erste Vorgaben für die Verfahren der Qualitätsbereinigung, die Behandlung neuer Waren und Dienstleistungen und die Überprüfung der Gewichte.
