( B5 ) Politico-National Material in a Spiritual Religious Form – Oratorio Composition from the 18th to the 20th Century
The musicological research project B5 is dedicated to the political functionalisation of religious music in diachronic comparison from the 18th to the 20th century, taking the oratorio genre as an example. It thus investigates a genre that is one of the least explored genres in the history of music.

Therefore, the motives and functionalities of ‘ territorial asylia ’ in the Hellenistic age will be screened on a broader basis than before, also considering diachronic changes and regional characteristics.
Thus, the project aims at contextualising asylia records, that is, at examining the reasons inherent in any particular historic situation for the request for the granting of asylia on the part of the respective poleis and sanctuaries.

Daher sollen die Motive und Funktionsweisen der ‚ territorialen Asylie ’ in hellenistischer Zeit auf breiterer Basis als bisher, auch unter Einbezug diachroner Veränderungen sowie regionaler Besonderheiten, durchleuchtet werden.
Ziel der Arbeit ist somit, die Asylieurkunden zu kontextualisieren, also die in der jeweiligen historischen Situation verorteten Gründe für die Bitte um Verleihung der Asylie seitens der entsprechenden Poleis und Heiligtümer zu untersuchen.
